Goalkeeper Andrew Kempe signs for Galway

Bermuda goalkeeper Andrew Kempe has signed for Irish side Galway United.

Kempe, who has featured in the national squad, notably when representing the island as a substitute against Guinea in the Fifa Series in March last year, heads to Ireland after completing his US college career.

The 24-year-old is coming off an impressive 2024 college campaign for Temple University, allowing only six goals during the season. The mark is the lowest for a Temple goalkeeper with at least three starts since 2012.

Kempe helped the team to the final of the American Athletic Conference Championship and was named AAC Goalkeeper of the Week in November. He picked up four clean sheets, had five matches with five or more saves, made 34 saves in total and ended with a .850 save percentage.

Galway United are based on the West Coast of Ireland and sit fifth in the eight-team Irish Premier League with a win and three draws in their opening four games of the season.
