St George’s, Devonshire Colts and X-Roads Warriors have been awarded club licences by the Bermuda Football Association.

In a move described by the BFA as “a significant step forward in the professionalisation and development of local football”, the three clubs have reached standards set by Fifa and Concacaf.

The initiative is designed to enhance football club operations across key areas including sporting, infrastructure, administration, legal compliance, and financial management, with the BFA aiming to elevate the standards of local football and prepare clubs for future opportunities in regional competitions.

The first licensing cycle since the covid pandemic was launched in January 2024, transitioning the process from paper-based submissions to Concacaf’s online Comet CL platform.

From March to August 2024, licensing co-ordinators from each club worked closely with MoZiah Selassie, the BFA’s Club Licensing Manager, to navigate the necessary criteria.

In recognition of their commitment and dedication, each club was presented with a plaque and a financial reward of $2,000.

The process has provided clubs with a structured compliance road map, offering incentives for achieving key milestones such as submitting AGM minutes and financial reports.

“The BFA commend all participating clubs for their efforts and look forward to celebrating an even greater number of licensed clubs in the next club licensing cycle,” a BFA statement read.

“We remain committed to supporting our clubs in their journey towards achieving higher standards and fostering a thriving football community.”
