Jutorre Burgess strikes as Harborough Town hunt promotion
Jutorre Burgess netted his fourth goal of the season as Harborough Town bolstered their promotion hopes at the weekend.
The Bees came away with a convincing 4-0 win away to Southern League Premier Division Central rivals Bishop’s Stortford, with Burgess getting his name on the scoresheet and providing two assists.
The Bermudian winger broke the deadlock at RDA Stadium in the twentieth minute when he found the back of the net from a tight angle at the near post.
Additional goals after the break from Alex Morris, Dempsey Arlott-John and man -of -the-match John Walsh extended the match beyond the hosts reach.
Former Hamilton Parish and Brooke House College Football Academy player Burgess, who was promoted by Harborough from the club’s Emerging Talent Programme last September, is happy to have played a significant part in his team’s success.
“It’s always amazing to get on the scoresheet and I thank God,” he told The Royal Gazette.
“To also assist two goals and see my team-mates do well is just as rewarding, and I am very grateful to be a part of such an amazing group of lads and fans during this time.
“It was a very strong performance from the team with Bishop being a tough place to go in this league. Credit to the team for fighting on until the final whistle to achieve a great victory towards our promotion push.”
Mitch Austin’s team are seventh in the Southern League Premier Division Central standings, a point adrift of the play-off positions, with as many matches left to play.
“We just have to stay humble and keep chipping away, and we will get to our destination,” Burgess said.
