Bermuda winger Djair Parfitt joins FC Haka
Bermuda winger Djair Parfitt has signed a one-year contract with FC Haka in Finland.
The 28-year-old, who was unattached before the move, is not new to the Veikkausliiga after previously playing for Tampereen Ilves and scoring six goals for the club in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Parfitt, one of Bermuda’s scorers in the 5-3 loss at home to Honduras in the first leg of the Concacaf Gold Cup preliminary round last month, is excited to return Finland as he feels the football played in the country suits his style of play.
“Finland is a great country to live in and the football is extremely competitive and most teams play attacking football, which I like,” Parfitt said.
“FC Haka are often underdogs but we have skilled players and the club has a long and successful history.
“My personal strengths are technical as well as scoring goals and creating opportunities for my team-mates.
“My goal is simply to be the best I can be every day and to stay professional. If I can help everyone perform to the best of their ability, we should be successful.”
Andy Smith, the FC Haka coach, views the Bermudian’s experience in the Veikkausliiga as a huge advantage.
“Djair is an experienced player who knows this league,’’ the coach said. “He brings us more danger in the attacking third.”
FC Haka started off the 2025 season with a 3-2 victory over IF Gnistan at home on Saturday. They are fourth in the 12-team league, which runs until the end of August.
