LeiLanni Nesbeth made her first appearance of the season in Chicago Stars’s 2-1 win over Bay FC in the National Women’s Soccer League on Sunday night.

Midfielder Nesbeth came on as a substitute in the 76th minute for forward Ally Schlegel as coach Lorne Donaldson attempted to tighten the game with his side holding a narrow advantage.

Brazilian forward Ludmila had struck twice in the first half to give Stars a 2-0 lead before expansion side Bay pulled a goal back through a Caroline Conti penalty in the 58th minute.

Victory gave Stars their first win of the season in their fourth game and moved them off the bottom of the league.

Last year, Nesbeth featured for Stars in the postseason and came on as a substitute in the team’s 4-1 loss to eventual champions Orlando Pride in the quarter-final.
