Students encouraged to sign up for free business camp
Students taking a financial and insurance services signature course are being encouraged to sign up for a free business camp.
The Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative, in co-ordination with the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, is offering a special BizCamp at BEDC’s headquarters from Monday, August 12, to August 16.
The Government has established a series of signature schools, offering specialist courses.
Joe Mahoney, YEI executive director, said: “The goal is to prepare students to earn the YEI Entrepreneurship Certificate which will prepare them for the entrepreneurship infusion being offered within each of the new signature learning pathways.”
He added: “With support of the BEDC and funding provided by the Centennial Foundation, BizCamp is free to any Bermudian teenager interested in learning how to master the growth mindset of an entrepreneur which is based upon the belief that concepts like intelligence, leadership, personality, and ability are all things that can be developed and cultivated.”
Nekesha Holdipp, acting education officer at the Department of Education and senior Bermuda signature schools transformation team member, added: “It would be very beneficial for any M3 students who are entering into the financial and insurance services signature to attend BizCamp and receive the certificate.”
Electronic applications are available at www.yei.bm, or e-mail BizCamp@yei.bm. Participants will be admitted on a rolling basis until both sessions are full.
