Minister tells forum of island’s commitment to green energy
The Government has emphasised its commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions.
Home affairs minister Walter Roban made the statement after attending the 2024 High-Level Caribbean Forum in Barbados earlier this month.
“This forum is a critical platform for Caribbean nations to unite and tackle the complex challenges of climate change and transitioning to a green energy future,” he said.
“Bermuda remains steadfast in its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and leveraging innovative technologies to build a sustainable future for future generations.”
The forum, hosted by the International Monetary Fund in collaboration with the Government of Barbados, focused on the theme “Managing the Green Energy Transition”.
According to a government statement, Mr Roban shared insights into Bermuda’s progress towards achieving its climate goals, “particularly its focus on fostering private-sector investment and regional collaboration”.
The statement said key topics explored during the Forum included: the macroeconomic implications of the green energy transition; strategies for a sustainable and equitable green energy future; unlocking private investment and the role of financial institutions; and strengthening international partnerships to support the green energy transition.
