First roads death of year named by police

Police yesterday named a man who died after a crash on Monday.

Oronde Wilson Jr, 28, was the first road fatality of the year.

A police spokesman said that the man suffered serious injuries after his motorbike crashed on Middle Road in Southampton.

The incident happened near the junction with Lighthouse Road, in the Jews Bay area just before 9am.

Emergency crews attended and performed CPR at the scene.

Mr Wilson was rushed by ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital but was later pronounced dead by doctors.

An investigation into the crash continues and police have appealed for witnesses.
