Farmers handed out free fresh broccoli to the public yesterday.
JaVaughn Dill, of Dill Pickles Farming, said he had taken to Facebook to publicise the produce giveaway, donated to him by Pacheco Farms.
The broccoli was fresh – but would have been past its best by the time it made it on to supermarket shelves.
Kenjahre Rawlins-Williams, aged 5, of Pembroke, was among those all too happy to take a helping of greens.
His grandmother, Khayriyyah Daniels, said the youngster “loved” broccoli.
She added: “There’s a lot he doesn’t like, but he will eat broccoli raw when we cut it up.”
Mr Dill, who announced the giveaway at the park at the foot of Trimingham Drive in Paget, said he was happy to share.
He added: “And people are lining up.”
