Woman fights for life after bike collision with car

A 20-year-old woman was yesterday in critical condition after two motorbikes collided with a car at the weekend.

A police spokesman said the two bikes overtook a car on Middle Road and were in collision with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

The 20-year-old was rushed to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where she was being treated in the intensive care unit for serious head and face injuries.

The other woman, aged 22, suffered wrist, foot and head injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

A police spokesman said her injuries were not life-threatening and she was being treated in a general ward.

Both women are believed to be from Pembroke.

The crash happened on Middle Road in Southampton near its junction with Lighthouse Road at about 11.45pm on Sunday.

The driver of the car, a 32-year-old Sandys, man, was uninjured.

The spokesman added a 56-year-old Pembroke man suffered non-life threatening injuries after his motorbike hit a roundabout and is being treated in hospital.

The crash happened at the junction of North Shore Road and Black Watch Pass in Pembroke at about 8.50pm on Sunday.

Police officers also responded to single vehicle crash on Middle Road in Southampton in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The spokesman said the car was found to have extensive damage, but was unoccupied.

Firefighters cleared the road of debris before the car was towed away.

Police were alerted to the crash, which happened near the junction with Luke’s Pond Road, at about 12.10am.

The spokesman appealed for witnesses to all three incidents.
