Warwick roadworks warning issued
A major road in a central parish will have a one-lane closure later this month, the Ministry of Public Works has said.
The closure will run from next Monday to 28 on Middle Road in Warwick and will affect the westbound lane between the Belmont electricity substation and the junction with Longford Road.
A ministry spokesman said the trench work would be carried out between 7.30am and 6pm.
He advised road users to take alternative routes on South Road and Harbour Road while the work was underway.
Signs to direct motorists to other alternative routes will be placed around the area.
Belco staff will also use traffic signs and signals to control the flow of traffic.
The ministry spokesman said that the work was part of a two-year Belco project to upgrade its power grid.
He added that the work will also widen the section of road.
The road work will take place around the same time that repairs on a collapsed section of Harbour Road is expected to be completed.
Emergency repairs started on the section of road between Burnt House Hill and Tamarind Vale after it fell into the sea in November last year.
The work was at first hoped to be completed by December 18, but the timeline was later pushed back to the middle of this month.
