Needy families were able to collect food hampers today with 700 given away at the Belco head office in Pembroke.

Belco and Ascendant Group staff members teamed up to give back to the community and help families who are facing economic hardship as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

They raised money, bought groceries and volunteered their time to pack and distribute about 700 bags of food to hundreds of families from across the island.

Wayne Caines, Ascendant president, said: “Our staff decided they wanted to help members of the community who may be struggling with basics such as food.

“I’m proud of our team who are continuing this company’s long history of giving back to the community and we look forward to continuing that support going forward.”
