Some buses will be diverted from their normal routes this week due to roadworks, the Ministry of Transport said today.

A spokesperson said: “The public is advised that road works on Harrington Sound Road will require major diversions for bus routes 1 and 3 on Thursday March 4 and Friday March 5. These routes will completely bypass Harrington Sound Road on these dates.

“Trenching in the area of Leamington Caves will make the road too narrow for buses to safely pass and there are no alternative detours in the area that are suitable. Road works are also taking place on Harrington Sound Road between Knapton Hill and Paynter’s Road.

“Outbound Route 1 buses will travel via South Road Devonshire, Collectors Hill, Flatt’s Intersection, North Shore Road and Blue Hole Hill. Inbound Route 1 buses will reverse that route.

“Outbound Route 3 buses will travel via Middle Road Devonshire, Flatt’s Intersection, North Shore Road and Blue Hole Hill. Inbound Route 3 buses will reverse that route.

“It is anticipated that bus service will resume on Harrington Sound Road on Saturday March 6 but that is subject to the trenching being completed and the area being deemed safe for buses to pass.

“The Ministry apologises to the public for any inconvenience.”
