The Bermuda Festival today announced it would hold a virtual event this year.

The Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts said it was planned to put on at least one show a month from May.

A spokeswoman for the festival said: “Priority will be given to programmes featuring professional Bermudian performers both in Bermuda and abroad.”

She added virtual programmes would feature a variety of performance genres, such as theatre, popular music, jazz, classical music and a variety of dance styles.

The spokeswoman said performances would be about 40 minutes long and would include live interviews, live performances, and pre-recorded performances.

Artists interested taking part should visit in the 2021 Virtual Festival, should visit www.Bermudafestival.org/takepart.

The spokeswoman said applications would be reviewed by the Festival Programme Advisory Committee.

Selected artists will be contacted by e-mail with further instructions between March 29 and April 5.
