Mirrors theme penned by teacher
A signature theme tune has been created for the Mirrors youth development programme.
Patricia O’Connor, a songwriter and teacher, penned the tune after she worked on a Mirrors “All In! 8 Keys of Excellence” event.
Ms O'Connor said: "My love for Bermuda's youth and my desire to positively impact their lives led me to volunteer for the Mirrors programme while teaching at Dellwood Middle School.
“As soon as I heard the jingle, my mind started clicking, and I could hear a beat. As time went on, I thought about doing a song for the programme.
“I dismissed it, but a tune kept coming to me, so I wrote the lyrics, set up a time at the studio, and recorded it – All In! 8 Keys of Excellence.”
Ms O’Connor added: "I believe in the arts, and as a singer, I know how music has helped me in many situations.
“So I hope the programme takes the song a step further and produces a music video to use throughout the programme."
Ms O'Connor has spent 25 years in the education system, teaching music and directing choirs.
She also organises a concert every year designed to teach young people the true meaning of love.
Kimberly Jackson, the Mirrors programme manager, said: "Everyone in the Mirrors' programme loved the song and embraced it.
“This song embodies our quest for local artist to work with our students. This song elevates the programme further.
"It is a catchy tune, and the words fit for the character development programme.
“Patricia's song is now the theme song for the programme."
