Rotary book donation to encourage literacy

Book donation: Elliot Primary School, one of four schools to be given free copies of an African-centred book (File photograph)

A Rotary club has launched a book drive to encourage literacy in young children.

The “From Teens to Tots” initiative will provide four primary schools – Harrington Sound, Elliot, Prospect and Victor Scott – with copies of the book A is for Afrika, S is for Sovereignty.

A spokeswoman for Hamilton Rotary Club said the book was “an early reader primer rich in lessons of African culture and traditions, some of which will resonate with local Bermudian heritage”.
