Bermuda’s first Black head of the Civil Service was yesterday honoured with a tree-planting ceremony at the Cabinet Office.

Mr Burt said Kenneth Richardson “had a long and distinguished career in the public service”.

He added: “A consummate public officer who always elevated the institutions he served, Bermuda remembers him as a man of commitment and character.”

Mr Richardson, who died in March aged 82, was Cabinet Secretary from 1984 until 1993.

The tree-planting ceremony was attended by Mr Richardson’s two children, Andrew Richardson and Tammy Richardson-Augustus.
