A bicycle race this weekend is expected to impact traffic in the west end, according to the Ministry of Public Works.

In a statement, the ministry said a road race organised by the Bermuda Bicycle Association will begin at 8am on Sunday and should be completed by 11am.

The race will start and finish at Freeport Drive in Dockyard, with racers cycling along Cockburn Road, Malabar Road, Mangrove Bay Road, Somerset Road, Cambridge Road, Mangrove Bay Road and Pender Road.

The notice said: “All motorists are expected to use caution and to avoid collision with race participants. The race route will be under the control of the police and race officials.

“Motorists must follow instructions from race officials to assist with traffic control for this event. There will be no roads closed to traffic while the bicycle race takes place.

“There will be no parking restrictions in place for the bicycle race, with motorists permitted to park in designated parking bays along any part of the race route. Additionally, motorists must not block the race route or impede the participants in the bicycle race.”
