Stamp of approval for Flora Duffy with GPO mural

Unfolding Flora Duffy: An artist’s impression of a Pop Art-style mural to be installed on the wall of the General Post Office in Hamilton (Photograph supplied)

A mural created by two artists to honour Olympic gold medal winner Flora Duffy is to be installed on the front of the General Post Office in Hamilton.

Kendra Earls and Shanna Hollis’s work Unfolding Flora Duffy was chosen by the Department of Culture as the winner of a competition to showcase Ms Duffy’s achievements.

Ms Earls, the artist, and Shanna Hollis, the graphic designer, teamed up to create the massive Pop Art style mural.

The two were chosen from 11 artists invited to submit proposals.

The mural – inspired by the 1950s Pop Art movement – will feature bright colours and imagery designed to highlight Ms Duffy’s road to sporting glory.

Work on the mural is expected to start early next month.
