Anti-gang violence head Bean signs deal to next August

A pastor has signed a deal as the co-ordinator of the Gang Violence Reduction Taskforce until next August.

A notice in the Official Gazette said that Leroy Bean was contracted at $125,116 a year between September last year and August 2022.

Mr Bean was signed up for the role in 2017 with a $92,000, one-year contract, but negotiated a $33,000 pay rise before he signed another deal in 2018.

The notice also revealed that Darren Woods, the youth programme manager with the GVRT, was contracted for one year on a salary of $99,849.

Lynn Landy, the organisation’s case manager, was contracted for $78,000 — $1,500 a week — from December 2020 to December 2021.

The notice also included a $86,338 contract for Juanee Scott to provide “direct services to the Ministry of National Security” between April 2021 and April 2022.

Telecoms firm Link Bermuda was awarded a $538,020 contract — $14,945 a month — to provide data services for the public safety radio station between April 2021 and March 2024.

Electronic Communications were given a $293,136 contract — $24,428 a month — to maintain the public safety radio system between April 2021 and March 2022.
