Mo men and Mo sister raise $35,000 for cancer centre
More than $35,000 was raised in the annual MOvember men’s health fundraiser.
Twenty-two participants, competing as individuals and teams, grew moustaches and held fundraisers for the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre event, which far exceeded its target of $20,000.
A spokeswoman for the BCHC said: “We are so grateful for their efforts and for everyone who sponsored them.
“Our top fundraiser spots were neck-and-neck this year with lots of healthy competition in both the individual and team categories.”
Brendan Kemp won the Mo Mo award for most money raised by an individual at $1,890. Gordon Kooiman came second and Jonathan Carter third.
The Mo Sister award for the woman who raised the most amount of money went to Jennifer Lightbourne, the only registered female.
The team award for most raised went to DHL Express. The first-time participant raised $1,010.
KPMG came first in the financial services category, raising more than $7,000. Deloitte came a close second and Orbis were third.
The Bermuda Rouleurs Cycle Club won the sportsman challenge for hosting a round-the-island cycle event, which raised more than $3,800. TNT Athletics and Team Hindsight came second and third in the category.
The spokeswoman added: “As always, Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre is extremely thankful for all of our MOvember Bermuda 2021 participants for their time and efforts fundraising for men’s health awareness.
“All of the money raised during MOvember supports our men’s health programmes in prevention, early detection and treatment.
“Through generous donations and fundraising events such as this it is possible for our centre to continue providing clinical services through our Equal Access Fund to those who might otherwise not be able to afford care.”
