Apartment plan for Burnaby Street office

An office building on Burnaby Street could have its top floors turned into a luxury apartment, according to a recent planning application.

The application proposes a change of use for the top three floors of 26 Burnaby Street – the Green Shutters building – from office use to residential.

Architectural drawings show two bedrooms with a living room, kitchen, home office and gym, along with a newly proposed balcony and rooftop deck with spa.

The 12,000 square foot building, which sits between Chatham House and the Hog Penny Restaurant, extends across nine staggered floors.

The property initially included a restaurant and bar on the lower floors – the Shutters Restaurant – while the upper floors were initially reserved for offices.

However the lower floors were repurposed as offices after the restaurant shut its doors.
