Middle Road detour routes to be in place for Belco trenching
A section of Middle Road in Smith’s will be partially closed over the next two months, the Government has announced.
A Belco trenching project starting on Wednesday will mean that the route between Verdmont Road and the Belco substation in Flatts will be closed in both directions at night.
The work is expected to be completed by mid-March.
A spokesman for the ministry of public works said: “Because the trench alignment is continuing along the road’s centre line, and for the safety of the public, a road closure will also be implemented for a night shift to occur.”
Night-time work will entail saw cutting the surface of the road from 6pm until 9pm, with clean-up until 10pm, for two nights per week – Monday and Wednesday, or possibly Friday.
Daytime work will entail installation of pipes, backfilling, and paving, from 7.30am until 6pm.
Detour routes to avoid the section will be on North Shore Road via Jennings Road and Store Hill.
