Love is in the air with Family Centre fundraising draw

A charity aims to spread the love on Valentine’s Day through a fundraising campaign with a romantic stay at a luxury hotel up as a prize.

Family Centre’s #VirtualValentine asked the public to send an eCard to loved ones with a donation to the Family Centre in their name.

Anyone who makes a donation of $20 or more before February 28 will be entered into a draw for a one-night stay at Rosewood Tucker’s Point and breakfast for two.

Sandy De Silva, Family Centre’s executive director, said: “The great thing about this campaign is that it is a simple way for us all to feel connected.

“Over the last year adults, children and teens have had to be mindful of their social bubbles and sadly, many of us could not connect with our loved ones, family members, friends and colleagues in the ways we normally would.”

Family Centre has also launched a collaboration with Exclusive Flowers to allow people who order bouquets to include a donation to the charity.

Thania Redman, the Family Centre’s relationship development director, told the public: “We are asking you to stop for a minute and smell the virtual roses.

“Think about your loved ones, colleagues, church groups, seniors or anyone that you feel can use a bit of love.”
