Senior Bermuda detectives have completed a two-week investigative training course in the British Virgin Islands.

A police spokesman said the programme was “part of a BPS initiative aimed at continuous development of investigators”.

Detective Chief Inspector Sherwin Joseph, in charge of the specialist investigations department of the Bermuda police and Detective Chief Inspector Peter Stableford, head of the serious crime department, took part in the senior investigation officers’ course.

The programme covered the development of investigative strategies, crime scene preservation and use of the “golden hour” – the crucial early stages of an investigation when evidence is fresh.

The event was delivered by UK specialist training group Agencia and was funded by the British government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
