Bermuda Red Cross Ukraine appeal passes $100,000 target

An appeal to raise funds for Ukrainians has passed its $100,000 target.

Ann Spencer-Arscott, the executive director of the Bermuda Red Cross, said that donations totalled $130,000.

She added: “We are so grateful to the community for their generosity in supporting this disaster appeal.

“We are aware of some large funds coming to us, so I am sure we will soon see $200,000 to $250,000 raised for this crisis.”

The charity launched its appeal for donations last month as the conflict across Ukraine deepened after an invasion by Russia.

Ms Spencer-Arscott said: “We received $728 from Year 7 girls at Bermuda High School who did extra chores around the house to raise funds for Ukraine.

“Residents from all walks of life are giving to the best of their ability which makes it even more heart-warming.

“We are coming out of 24 months of sheer craziness and we have opened up our hearts to supporting those in a far worse situation than we will ever be.”

Donations can be made by direct deposit into the Butterfield bank account 20 006 060 663859 200.

The public can also donate online at bermudaredcross.com/donate-now by debit or credit card.

The charity will also take card details by phone on 236-8253, Monday to Friday, between 8.30am and 4pm.

Donations can be made in person or by post to the office at the Bermuda Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal, 9 Berry Hill Road, Paget DV03.
