Electric microcar driver escapes serious injury after collision

Injuries suffered by a 52-year-old man in a collision yesterday are not believed to be life-threatening, police said today.
Police earlier reported that it appeared the injured man was overtaking another vehicle on South Road in Smith’s near the junction with Sayle Road when he was involved in a head-on collision with a taxi in the eastbound lane.
A police spokesman said: “The 52-year-old man had to be extracted from the car by firefighters.
“The Smith’s resident apparently sustained injuries to his face, arms and legs.
“The taxi driver involved, said to be a 51-year-old Sandys parish man, was not hurt.”
The incident happened around 10.35am yesterday.
