Trash collection will be a day later for residents whose waste is usually picked up on a Friday, to accommodate the Bermuda Day holiday.

The Ministry of Public Works said that the collection will be made on Saturday, May 28.

A spokesman added: “The Waste Management Section has been working tirelessly over the past week and has cleared the backlog of garbage created by mechanical issues last week.

“The Ministry of Public Works would like to once again thank the public for their patience and understanding.

“Members of the public can still use the Tynes Bay public drop-off in the lead up to Bermuda Day to dispose of household waste, recycled hazardous materials such as paints and pesticides, and bulky items.”

The garbage truck problems last week were caused by problems securing critical parts owing to supply chain issues and difficulty obtaining overseas specialist support.
