Student art to be at heart of primary school fundraiser

Art created by primary school students will be at the heart of a fundraiser for the Northlands Primary PTA this weekend.

A spokeswoman for the PTA said that about 56 pieces of student art will be put up for auction on Facebook on Friday.

“We are working closely with their art teacher and she has pointed out some of the best pieces by the kids,” the spokeswoman said.

“We will post everything on Friday evening and people can put forward their bids by commenting, and whoever has the highest bid at the end of the auction gets it.”

The spokeswoman added that the online auction was devised because the PTA had faced difficulty hosting fundraising events during the pandemic.

“With Covid-19, we haven’t been able to do our normal fundraisers, so we had to think outside the box about how we can get everyone involved and support the kids,” she said.

The art up for auction will be posted at the Northlands Auction Facebook Page on Friday at 7pm, with the auction set to close at 7pm on Sunday.
