Garbage collection changes for Bermuda Heroes Weekend

Garbage collection will follow a rollover schedule next week in light of Bermuda Heroes Weekend.

The Ministry of Public Works announced today that Monday’s waste will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday’s waste will be collected on Wednesday, and so on until Friday’s trash is collected on Saturday.

Garbage collection will return to its regular schedule on June 27.

A public works ministry spokesman reminded the public that trash can be taken to the Tynes Bay public drop-off facility in Devonshire, which is open every day from 7am to 7pm.

People can dispose of tin, aluminium and glass recyclables at the plant, as well as household waste, hazardous materials and bulky burnable and non-burnable items such as furniture.

Private car drivers do not have to pay to use the facility.

The spokesman added that recycling is picked up in the west today and on June 30, while the east’s will be collected tomorrow and July 1.
