Changes to trash collection schedules over Cup Match
Changes to garbage pick-up schedules during next week’s holiday were announced today.
In the City of Hamilton, a spokeswoman said that normal collections would take place for residents on Wednesday with the last collection for businesses and bars on that day at 5pm.
There will be no garbage collections in the city on July 28 and 29.
Pick-ups will be carried out for City of Hamilton businesses, bars and restaurants on Saturday, July 30.
Normal garbage collection will resume for everyone in the city on Monday, August 1.
The spokeswoman said: “All garbage should be placed on the sidewalks or designated garbage areas by the times indicated in the Refuse Collection Schedule.
“Please do not place garbage out for collection unless a collection is scheduled for that day.”
A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works said that household waste in other parts of the island that would normally be collected on Thursday or Friday next week would instead be collected on Saturday, July 30.
He added: “West End recycling will be collected on Wednesday, July 27, while East End recycling will be collected on Saturday, July 30.
“All other waste collection is unaffected by the holiday.
“Residents may also use the public drop-off at the Tynes Bay facility for household waste during both days of Cup Match between 9am and noon.
“The main tipping hall at Tynes Bay will also be open during the holiday from 7.30am to noon.”
