New Pati brochure published in Portuguese
Extra help to give Portuguese speakers better access to information held by the Government and public bodies has been announced.
The Information Commissioner’s Office has published a new brochure in the language explaining how to make a Pati request.
Information Commissioner, Gitanjali Gutierrez, said: “This brochure complements our previously published Know Your Rights under the Pati Act brochure, which is also available in Portuguese, with the aim of empowering Bermuda’s Portuguese-speaking community to take full advantage of this important right.
“Even if English is not your first language, you have an equal right to make a Pati request.
“We encourage anyone who may hesitate to submit a Pati request because of concerns about language barriers to remember that the Pati Act safeguards their right to ask.
“We hope these resources will support the Portuguese-speaking community to know and use their Pati rights, and to be equipped with the right information to do so.”
All of the brochures are available on the ico.bm website.
