Model Rhiannon Higgins celebrates getting first magazine cover
A Bermudian student’s modelling career has taken off after she was chosen for a magazine cover photoshoot.
Rhiannon Higgins, 19, will appear on the front cover of the next edition of Poza, a fashion and style magazine.
Ms Higgins, who is currently studying commerce at Humber College in Toronto, described her latest assignment as “a significant milestone”.
She said: “It still hasn’t sunk in yet. I think when I get my hands on the hard copy it’ll sink in. I’m very proud and excited about this stepping stone.
“I’ve dreamt of being on a cover, so it feels very surreal.”
The former Bermuda High School student began modelling on the island in 2019, working with photographer Brandon Morrison and local brands such as 1609, BDA Watersports and Factor Bermuda.
The move to Toronto ignited her career. She was taken on by several modelling agencies, including Dulcedo Management.
The Poza cover shoot represents a breakthrough in Ms Higgins’s career and offers of work are beginning to flood in.
She said: “I’m very grateful for the opportunity and the exposure it has given me. It’s my first magazine cover, but definitely won’t be the last.
Ms Higgins appeared in a spread for Wedluxe wedding magazine at the beginning of the month and has other magazine assignments coming out in the autumn.
She said: “I'm also in a runway show coming up, which is where this whole journey started.
“I am staying focused and taking any opportunity that comes my way. I’ve worked hard for it and it feels well deserved, but I’m so grateful for all of the support my family and friends have given me. It makes it a lot easier.”
