Stretch of Harrington Sound Road to close for two days to fix sinkhole

Police are warning motorists to avoid a section of Harrington Sound Road after a partial collapse of the roadway.

A police spokesman said: “The Bermuda Police Service wishes to advise the public that due to a partial collapse of the roadway, Harrington Sound Road is closed to vehicular traffic from the junction with Paynters Road to the entrance of the government quarry.

“Motorists are advised to take alternative routes to get to their destinations.”

Tonight a spokesman said: “The Ministry of Public Works has decided, in the interests of public safety, to immediately close Harrington Sound Road near the entrance to the Government Quarry due to a road cavity caused by a water leak.

“The closure will allow repair work to get under way, with the road expected to be closed for approximately two days.”
