Weeks hails ‘professionalism and dedication’ of firefighters
Firefighters were paid a visit by the Minister of National Security, who commended their “professionalism and dedication”.
Michael Weeks went to the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service’s airport operations division and Clearwater station.
He spent time with firefighters to hear about their work and see them in action.
Mr Weeks also met staff from overseas who were on shift working at the LF Wade International Airport on an interim basis.
He said: “It was a good opportunity to inspect the station and meet with the local and overseas firefighters who provide such an important service.
“These men and women play a critical role in ensuring the safety of travellers. Their professionalism and dedication to the service is commendable.”
Canadian firefighters were brought to Bermuda to bolster numbers at the airport to help make sure that the terminal met international requirements.
Mr Weeks, who was joined by Acting Chief Fire Officer Dana Lovell and Nakia Pearson, the president of the Fire Services Association, added: “This visit was just part of the many visits I have taken in recent months to different departments and offices under the ministry’s remit.”
