The Royal Bermuda Regiment Association has presented the Bermuda Legion with a cheque for $1,000 towards its annual poppy fundraising appeal.

Peter Aldrich, the association’s president, said: “This annual donation from the RBRA to the Bermuda Legion represents our commitment and gratitude to the Bermuda war veterans and their families.

“The sacrifices made by those that served in times of conflict to protect our freedom cannot be forgotten.”

Carol Everson, of the Bermuda Legion, said: “We are most pleased and grateful for the donation and our valued relationship with the association.

“We are still in need of more donations and volunteers to assist with poppy sales so please continue to give generously, thank you.”

Those interested in making donations can donate online at HSBC 010 731354 001. To volunteer for poppy sales, call Ms Everson on 732-0100 or e-mail bermudalegion@gmail.com.

The Royal Bermuda Regiment Association membership is open to actively serving soldiers, Bermuda Coast Guard, former and retired regiment soldiers and its predecessor units. Basic membership is $20 year, and is free for members over the age of 65.
