Mothers and fathers urged to attend parenting expo

Mothers and fathers looking to improve their parenting skills can link up with a host of organisations and care professionals at a parenting exposition this week.

The expo, part of the Government’s Nurturing our Nation: Imperfect Parenting series, will be held on the grounds of City Hall on Thursday between 11am and 2pm and will feature almost 30 organisations and support groups.

According to Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Social Development and Seniors, the event “will provide valuable resources and connections to assist with coping and parenting skills”.

Ms Furbert said: “This expo will feature various industry professionals that provide community programmes, child development support and services, mental health support and services, parent and education support, and extracurricular activities.

“The Government remains committed to our parents, children and families and is keen to find a way to ensure they are given the support and tools to help strengthen themselves.

“It is our hope that through the Nurturing our Nation: Imperfect Parenting series, we can educate and provide resources to primary caregivers and start healing the foundation of our families.

“Once our families experience healing, then together we can work collectively to heal our nation.”
