Work starts on four-month overhaul of water mains
An overhaul of a government water mains, expected to last four months, has begun on Parson’s Road in Pembroke.
The Ministry of Public Works said the existing trunk main had aged beyond its useful life, leading to a “significant” daily loss of water.
The job is part of island-wide upgrades to water and sewerage infrastructure.
Residents and businesses were notified last month.
Residents connected to the water line should expect scheduled interruptions to the top-up service, which is used to refill water tanks.
Water will be shut off on Tuesdays at 10am and restored by 6pm on Fridays.
Thye work will be suspended for four weeks from December 16 to provide service over the Christmas holidays.
Government has not given the cost of the project or the number of people affected by the work.
