A former office could be modified into a restaurant, according to a recent planning application.

The application, submitted last month by cTx Design Group Ltd, proposes renovations to 39 Reid Street to create a new restaurant at the property.

The plans include a takeout section on street level along with seating for up to 49 patrons on the second floor and an additional 34 seats on the upper level.

The proposal also includes outdoor seating for up to 52 patrons and an outdoor bar to be located behind the building.

Plans to establish a restaurant on the property were previously approved in 2020 and included the creation of a hair salon inside the building.

A report recommending the earlier plan’s approval highlighted that the proposal would “allow for vacant office space to be renovated and repurposed, which will enhance this area of the City”, and found that no notable adverse impacts were expected.
