Furniture store lends helping hand to Habitat
A Pembroke store has teamed up with a charity to extend the life of unwanted second hand furniture.
Island Trading is supporting Habitat for Humanity Bermuda by collecting used items and donating them to the charity which helps families in need to build, and improve their homes.
As an example, Sonia Burgess, senior sales associate at Island Trading, recently helped a customer who purchased outdoor furniture from the store a decade ago, but had taken good care of it.
With the assistance of Joe Vieira Trucking, the outdoor set was moved to the charity’s retail outlet ReStore on Front Street to sell on, helping to raise funds for Habitat’s cause.
Laura Farge, managing director for Island Trading, said: “We are very grateful for our longstanding customers who take such good care of their furniture and who love to join us in supporting initiatives to help the community.”
Sandra Warner, secretary/treasurer of Habitat for Humanity of Bermuda and manager for ReStore, added: “Everyday something new comes in and we are so grateful to partner with Island Trading as they continuously bless us with donations, and we are just so very thankful.”
Habitat for Humanity of Bermuda is an affiliate for Habitat for Humanity that was founded in 1976 in the United States.
