Andesha returns to work for same department that awarded scholarship

A surveyor has joined the government department that offered her a scholarship six years ago.

Andesha Busby received a four-year bursary from the land valuation department in 2016, which allowed her to pursue a real estate degree from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.

After graduating in 2019, Ms Busby worked at the valuation office agency in England and became a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors last year.

She returned to the island in January and is now designate valuer in the department, where she values different properties for tax and probate purposes.

Walter Roban, the Minister of Home Affairs, said: “Land valuation is a specialised and unique field and chartered surveying is an excellent choice for students considering a career.

“Also, and in line with the Government’s youth employment strategy, this is a perfect example of the Government’s tangible investment in our youth.

“Investing and encouraging them to return and contribute their talents to their home country is vital to the future of Bermuda.”

Bermudians interested in a career in land valuation can contact the land valuation department at landval@gov.bm or at 297-7964.
