A car close to a Smith’s residence was gutted yesterday in a predawn blaze – but there were no injuries, according to the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.

A 911 call shortly before 4.15am alerted the BFRS to the blaze at Cameron Close, a lane just off North Shore Road.

Two trucks responded with eight firefighters, with the first arriving ten minutes after the call to discover the vehicle “engulfed in flame”.

The blaze was doused by two firefighters in breathing apparatus.

A spokesman said a fire investigator was also called to the scene and would be examining the cause.
