Bermudian Glenn Jones hits the headlines in Boston
A Bermudian journalist, now a household name on the US East Coast through Boston’s NBC10 news station, has been added to the ranks of the city’s most inspiring figures.
Glenn Jones, who joined the station in 2021 as a news anchor, was named of the list of Boston’s most influential men of colour, the station announced this week.
Presented by the group Get Konnected!, a cross-cultural and networking group aimed at highlighting inclusivity in Boston, the list includes Deval Patrick, the governor of Massachusetts from 2007 to 2015, and Scott Uzzell, the president and chief executive of the shoewear giant Converse Inc.
Mr Jones announced on air: “It was truly one of the highlights of my career.”
He added: “I was proud to be named in the Communications and Media category. Also, NBC10 Boston was honoured for diverse hiring practices of on-air talent, so that made the night doubly special.”
A former reporter with The Royal Gazette, Mr Jones served as the interim chief executive and chief experience officer for the Bermuda Tourism Authority until 2021.
Mr Jones said he gave credit to Colette Phillips, of Colette Phillips Communications, for “dreaming up this list and bringing together such an august group of men”.
