The Corporation of Hamilton has reminded businesses and residents that there will be no trash collection within city limits on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

A spokeswoman said that the last collection for commercial businesses, bars and restaurants will be at 5pm today. Collection for bars and restaurants on Saturday will be in accordance with the regular schedule.

She said that the last collection for residential areas was at 6am today. Collection for all will resume as per normal on Monday.

She added: “The City reminds businesses and residents to store their wheelie bins in a secure location to avoid theft and any damage that may be caused during inclement or windy conditions.

“The community is reminded that the dumping of household trash in Hamilton from the outer parishes is in violation of the Waste Litter Control Act and may be punishable by law.”
