Age Concern announces two new appointments
A charity that helps Bermuda’s ageing population has a new leader and programme operations manager.
Age Concern Bermuda has appointed Mercedes Pringle-DeSilva as its permanent executive director.
Ms Pringle-DeSilva has worked in many capacities at the charity since 2018 and has been its interim executive director since December last year.
An Age Concern spokeswoman said: “While she has predominantly been working in programming and operations management in this time period, she has also been actively working on extending her skills in fund development and financial management, which, in combination with her hard work and bubbly personality, has allowed her to rise to the top.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Ms Pringle-DeSilva and shows the positive momentum of our organisation.”
Edonna Bean has been appointed operations manager of the charity’s programmes.
Dr Bean, who previously worked as a case manager with the Ministry of Social Development and Seniors and as the executive director of the Transformational Living Centre for Families, is in charge of Age Concern Bermuda’s programmes and events.
She said: “We can make a difference tomorrow for our ageing population together as a community one older adult at a time.”
The charity spokeswoman said that, based on feedback from members of the public, Age Concern will operate with a more community-centred approach.
“We look forward to interacting with you all more often,” she said.
