City parking swipe cards face June malfunction

Prepaid swipe cards for long-term parking in the City of Hamilton will not work during the month of June owing to a malfunction.

Members of the public who have cards for Bull’s Head, Elliot Street, Cavendish, Par-la-Ville and King Street will have June payments honoured in July.

A spokeswoman for the City of Hamilton said that a crucial piece of infrastructure that updates the cards each month had malfunctioned and that a replacement part had been ordered.

She advised swipe-card users who paid for June to take a ticket upon entry to the affected lots and use the pay stations until the replacement part arrives and the cards have been updated.

“All prepaid monies received for June swipes will be honoured in July,” she said.

“Should the replacement part arrive promptly, all measures will be taken to activate the swipes as soon as possible and apply any credits due. Swipe-card holders who have prepaid for their June parking must retain their receipts from the pay stations to apply for any credit due.”

She apologised on behalf of the City of Hamilton and urged motorists to arrive earlier to the lots to allow enough time for the entry process.
