Ron-Michael Davis was sworn in as Commandant of the Bermuda Reserve Police in a ceremony at Prospect.

A police spokesman said that spectators filled the Police Recreation Club Hall to observe the change-of-command ceremony yesterday.

“Outgoing commandant Sandra Beach was thanked for her 28 years of voluntary service, having joined the BRP on July 8, 1995,” the spokesman said.

“Mrs Beach had the distinction of being the first female officer to lead the BRP. Mrs Beach gave a speech thanking her colleagues for their support during her time as commandant.

“Incoming commandant Ron-Michael Davis joined the BRP on November 13, 2001 and was promoted, in March of 2014, to the rank of deputy commandant.”

Mr Davis took the Official Oath, the Oath of Allegiance and the Ceremonial Oath before Mrs Beach formally passed the Commandant’s Sword to him as part of the ceremony.

After being sworn in, Mr Davis thanked his friends, family and colleagues for their support and outlined his plans for the future of the BRP, including his intention to strengthen ties with other reserve police services such as the Royal Bahamas Police Reserves.
