Fire crews undergo command and control training
A two-week programme has helped to teach firefighters how to quickly and properly respond to emergencies.
The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service’s incident command training course taught firefighters how to serve the island in the safest and most effective way.
Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security, was briefed about the course and called it “vital in fulfilling the BFRS’s mission”.
“By enhancing our incident command capabilities, we are better positioned to safeguard the lives and property of the people of Bermuda,” he said.
K Lamb Associates, a British incident training organisation, helped the BFRS run the programme.
A spokesman said: “Through this collaboration, BFRS aims to provide operational bronze and tactical silver commanders with internationally recognised qualifications, equipping them with the expertise to excel in their roles.
“This curriculum represents a significant investment in the professional development of the BFRS personnel, allowing them to enhance their command and control abilities in high-pressure situations.”
Dana Lovell, the chief fire officer, said: “We are determined to equip our incident commanders with the essential tools and competencies to effectively manage critical incidents, safeguarding lives and property in Bermuda."
