Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service holds pinning ceremony
Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service held a pinning ceremony on Friday for 12 recently promoted officers.
During the ceremony, which was held at Hamilton Fire Station, those recognised received badges or pins representing their new ranks.
Chief Fire Officer Dana Lovell, appointed in April, was among those honoured during the event, as was Assistant Chief Fire Officer Troy Furbert. The others were sergeants, watch commanders and crew commanders.
Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security, said: “To the newly promoted officers, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. This pinning ceremony symbolises the culmination of your relentless efforts, enduring countless hours of training and studying locally and overseas.
“Your determination to succeed, even in the face of unprecedented challenges brought on by the global pandemic, is truly commendable.”
Mr Lovell added: “It is a calling to serve our community, to put ourselves in harm's way to protect the lives and property of others.
“It takes special persons to answer that call, and the officers presenting today represent this group.“
