A cruise ship arrived in port early this week because of a medical emergency.

According to an incident report, Meyer Agencies contacted Bermuda Radio on Tuesday morning to notify it that the Norwegian Joy would be arriving ahead of its scheduled arrival time.

The cruise ship had been scheduled to arrive in Dockyard on Wednesday morning, but it met with a Bermuda pilot boat on Tuesday afternoon.

“Bermuda Radio kept fire dispatch updated and at 2.47pm the patient, suffering from a suspected stroke, was transferred to the pilot boat for transportation to Ordnance Island and transferred to an ambulance for onward transport to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital,” the report added.
